Hello my lovelies,

Now can anyone tell how an ill patient can be busy in hospital? I seem to be, medics keep appearing at my bedside and I hardly get time to sleep.

Now don't laugh, I did a stint of modelling todayLaugh It's true, a nice young medical photographer took me to his studio for a photo shoot. I can tell you that Kate Moss would be proud of me - perhaps I've found my new vocation? LOL

Amanda - I need more wine, otherwise I'll be turning into a junkie with the amount of morphine that's being pumped into me.

I will be moving to the 10th floor, which has fantastic views: St Pauls, London Eye, and if you are going to rescue me, we'll definitely need the firebrigade!

Alison, yes I'm at UCLH and would love to see you. I think I'm in for a long haul and wont be discharged until I can walk again and when my feet and hands are healed.

I'm scared, as my new rheumy, who is female and very nice, wants to start me on EnbrelConfused Apparently, Enbrel is used to treat this rare form of psoriasis as well as Humira, really don't know what to make of it, as it was a bl... anti tnf that caused the onset of the psoriasis - der my brain really does hurt - ironic or what!

Amanda, please could you pass on my mobile number to the girls, as I can't pick up or send emails.

Keep the jokes rolling, I love them, and how is "my jail break plan" coming along?

love,

Barbara

Dear Barbara,

It sounds as if you have another difficult decision to make re Embrel. At least if you decide to try it you are in the right place to have it under safe supervision.

It sounds as if they at least are taking an interest and not just leaving you at home with no treatment. Your poorly feet will be gracing the pages of some medical book for many a long year!

The view will be stunning and will help a bit. Have you still got a room to yourself with the ensuite?

Don't worry about being on the 10th floor. Jean has found a window cleaner's platform and once we can work out how to start it we will appear at your window with Amanda and her alcoholic supplies. Julie has been arrested for public indecency as her flimsy green dress was around her ears when she decided to scale the building earlier. Could you please hang something out of your window so that we know where to come. Doreen might get led astray if we end up in the male wards.

Lyn has captured some poor man and is cutting his hair. He will send for the police when he looks in a mirror! I have got a balaclava firmly on my head as she is not getting near me with scissors again, not ever! She had better hurry as Jean has got the machine going. Doreen is still to get on board as she is placating the handy man who had to repair the sprinkler systen after an earlier escape plan went wrong. Kathleen and Mary are planning to practice some pole dancing moves on our way to the 10th floor. OOOOOOOO! We're off!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry we still haven't arrived. We are delayed whilst on the way up at the 3rd floor. There is some sort of consultants conference going on in there and the platform seemed to stop all by itself - don't understand why! Oh my golly, I've got to go NOW. The snake is hanging onto the platform and Kathleen is hanging onto the snake. Doreen is trying to jump up from the ground floor and catch the snake's tail. This could spell disaster Aren't some people stupid?!!! Must go and sort this out before we ALL end up back on the ground. (Julie has been taken to the police station for indecent exposure)

Hi Barbara,

Sounds like rescue will be completed before I get to see you which hopefully will be Wednesday. I hope your rescue team bring you a box of Milk Tray - because they must know the lady likes them!
If you are still in residence, it seems there is open visiting, so hope to be swinging your way about 2'ish. I have sat nav for the tower, but in case it is out of order, do I need other instructions apart from 10th floor! Sorry you are not able to get emails - and I don't have your number!!
Hopefully you won't be there as that will mean you are SO much better. Keep in touch
lots of love
Alison xxxx

I do have a good contact in West Midlands Fire Service as he kindly came and gave a talk to our NRAS group.

I'll ask if we can commandeer a WM Fire Engine and race down <giggle>

I hope you're feeling better Barbara, and it sounds like they're really keen to get you on the mend.

My thoughts are with you.

Gentle Hugs

Doctor, doctor, I can't stop pulling ugly faces.
That's not a serious problem.
Yes, but people with ugly faces don't like it.

Doctor, doctor, I can't stop sneezing.
Don't worry - it's much achoo about nothing.

Doctor, doctor, I can't stop trembling.
I'll be with you in a couple of shakes.

Doctor, doctor, I feel very flushed.
You must have flu. No, I walked.

Doctor, doctor, I keep hearing ringing in my ears.
Nonsense, you're as sound as a bell.

Doctor, doctor, I keep seeing double.
Just lie down on the couch. Which one?

Doctor, doctor, I keep seeing purple and yellow spots.
Have you seen a psychiatrist?
No - just purple and yellow spots.

Doctor, doctor, I need something for my kidneys.
Here's a pound of steak - make yourself a pie.

Doctor, doctor, I'm having trouble with my breathing.
I'll soon put a stop to that.

Doctor, doctor, I've a carrot growing in my ear.
How did that happen?
I don't know -I planted cauliflowers.

Doctor, Doctor When I press with my finger here... it hurts, and here... it hurts, and here... and here... What do you think is wrong with me?
You have a broken finger!

Doctor Doctor I feel like biscuits!
What, you mean those square ones?
Yes!
The ones you put butter on?
Yes!
Oh, You're Crackers!

Doctor, Doctor My little boy has just swallowed a roll of film!
Hmmmm. Let's hope nothing develops.

Doctor, Doctor I feel like a pair of curtains
Well pull yourself together then

Doctor, Doctor I snore so loud I keep myself awake
Sleep in another room then!

Jenni - can you e-mail Barbara's number, please. She has asked Amanda to let us have it, but I suspect she is too upset today.

Hello Barbara,

Have only just caught up with this. You have been on my mind and I hadn't seen a post, so did a 'search'. Well, haven't you been up to a lot since Leicester Scared

Glad to know that you are being looked after and if you want rescuing from the 'extreme and alcoholics' gang - just let me know. I'll bring Trudy Scrumptious along to sort 'em out. LOL

I do hope you are feeling better. It was a herculean effort to get to Leicester and I am so glad you came, but concerned about your feet. Did you see the photos of them on photobucket ? I thought you might want them recorded for posterity LOL

Sorry to hear about your beloved classic car. But it can be mended. Now mending people isn't so easy!

You are very much in my thoughts and prayers (including being rescued by firemen Laugh

Get well soon. Love from Ann

Have just had a chat to Barbara and she seems to be bearing up well. She sends her love to everyone on the forum. She's seeing the doctor on Tuesday but isn't sure what will happen. She isn't allowed to walk yet because of the PA on her feet.

She has said that if anyone would like her number, I can pass it on, so if you'd like to e-mail me I'll let you have it - or you can ask Jenni, who also has it!

Her address is: Barbara D'Gama, Level 10, Bed 48, University College of London Hospital, 250 Euston Road, London, NW1 2PG
I know she'd love to hear from you.

Love Jeanxx

Just had a chat to Barbara, she is keeping cheerful in spite of all her problems.
Her feet are still painful with new pustules appearing as old ones heal!
Her RA is bad, and they are going to try her on Enbrel while she is in hospital.
She sends her love to everyone and message for Jean:

If you insist on wearing tassels and thongs for the rescue, they must be from Agent Provocateur.......nothing else will be acceptable.RollEyes

Dear Barbara,

Glad that Doreen managed to reach the 10th floor. I suspect that she went up in the lift while Jean and I are stuck with Kathleen hanging over the side of the window cleaning thingie trying to hold on to her snake. Jean has manged to get it going now but there is a diversion as Julie has got stuck on a window sill on the 12th floor. Don't ask! She will need some therapy for this climbing fetish she has! So don't be surprised if we pass your room as we will get there eventually.

Hope that they start you on the new drug soon while you are ther being monitored. Shame that your feet are still erupting: guess this means that they have not found suitable treatment. I hope that they find something to help soon.

Thinking of you,

Eleanor x

Hi all,

Women rule the roost here. A nice lady came by and fixed the gadget so I'm able to go back online, but still can't access or send e-mails.

Very pleased to hear that my break out is going to plan, however, decorum girs please - only the best tassels and thongs will do! You see this is a very posh hospital and you'll need to dress well.

Re my treatment, I have to soak my hands and feet in a purple iodine solution, which are making them yellow, apply liquid paraffin x4 and cold tar cream x2 a day. I really do look a pretty picture and my nails are coming off, I'm keeping them to remind me of my stint in hospital. Still aking pain killers and don't know when I can leave, as bloods are not good.

Will try and log on again and thank you for keeping y spirits up,

love,
Barbara

Oooh you gotta love the iodine.... When I had my 1st hip replaced, the surgeons decided to play noughts & crosses on my leg with it RollEyes Does it feel weird not having any nails? Good excuse for a manicure and pedicure when you're feeling better

I'm thinking that if someone has a spare helicopter sitting around, they could drop me and Jo off on the roof and we'll abseil down, in our finest attire of course and rescuing any dishy docs on the way down.... I'm sure between us, one can hold the flowers and the other the milk tray (best not be me though otherwise you'll end up with an empty box).....

Jo can sweet talk some of her fireman friends along as they'll come in handy for the heavy work, like carrying the docs and bottles of wine....

Glad you've got the internet sorted..... yay for women ruling the roost Wink
